Aries Solar Eclipse 2025 - Introduction

This solar eclipse is a powerful new beginning, prefaced by many significant transits that were preparing us for the start of New Lunar Cycle - with great, probably also loud, entrance into it. This is not only a turning point of personal destiny (eclipses are linked to Lunar Nodes which represent general direction of events) but also a turning point for entire humanity, thanks to shift that occurs once in about 150 years - Neptune enters Aries, concluding old cycle and starting its new cycle, the day after the solar eclipse. On top of that, as a little spicy sprinkle - Lilith just returned to her home, in sign of Scorpio. And ofcourse - we still have retrogrades. About all of those transits I wrote in my previous entry, that you can read here. I included a vast description of topics that Lilith in Scorpio will touch on. Today we will focus solely on solar eclipse with a hint of Neptune in Aries.

Solar eclipse is more mystical, more powerful, more shadow-exploring event than your regular new moon. This Aries Solar Eclipse 2025, on March 29th, happens as the last eclipse of the Aries-Libra eclipse cycle. We can fairly say that this is in Aries style, to end something with a new, bold and fiery beginning. Right before the eclipse - Neptune, Mercury, Venus bathed in solar fire to cleanse and illuminate the shadows. This is highly symbolic - they literally took a sacred bath before the grand event. Definitely the energy that is brewing is very powerful and Lilith’s ingress into Scorpio, adds a layer of transformative, mystical, bold and deep energy that mixes up with the rest very well. The shadows she represents are brand new (Lilith visits Scorpio every 9 years) - which means that solar eclipse's illuminative quality can deeply surprise us all, providing us with transformations on such a deep level that we couldn’t possibly predict it. Or we could? With Neptune standing on the brink of signs, balancing between the final 29 degree of Pisces and 0 degree of Aries?

Neptune’s influence in all of this is very indirect, yet very confusing. Can be even overpowering and very, very mixed between two contradictory qualities - Pisces and Aries. We can bounce between sleepless nights, full of passionate visions and inspirations about action to take… And sleeping so deep, that we can’t recall any dream or any guidance. Our intuition in these moments can be very wobbly, very hard to derive from. We may also struggle with sleep, with existing or former addictions. With general confusion, brain fog and temporary enlightenment moments. It is advised and recommended to note all ideas but leave them for the time after the eclipse, to reflect on. Same as when we dream a vivid dream, that makes sense until we sober up and ground into reality… This can happen to us outside of dreamscape, in this time. Be wary of your impulses and make sure to give yourself time - because not only Neptune makes it harder, but solar eclipse is a shadow-purging event & we also have to remember our sweet Venus and Mercury are retrograding. And Lilith casts darkness on new territory, bound deeply to our transformations, deep self, secrets and all hidden, subconscious things. Write down all your insights to review them later :)

(Neptune moves into Aries March 30th)

This is also a GREAT time to delve deep into mystical and artistic activities. Highly inspiring, moving great waves of emotions currents of energies definitely may dissolute ability to discern… But sometimes it helps us to create our opus magnum.

Now that we have an outline of this week’s end, we can dive deeper into all the bits of Solar Eclipse and Neptune in Aries 0 degree moment.

Understanding Solar Eclipse in Aries

See, Solar Eclipse is a New Moon, where the Moon bathes in the solar flames for renewal of its energies but in difference to usual New Moon - it also temporarily blocks the sunlight coming to Earth. It's an emotional moment. And the Sun in Aries isn’t the least emotional being either, possessing a great deal of martian energy - it's fire now is cleansing emotional spaces like napalm, burning out all the stored emotions, shooting fire straight into the dark side. Our Moon, also in Aries, during this moment casts its shadow on Earth. Darkening our illusions, projections (to reveal emotions hiding behind them), casting new confusing shadows around to immobilise a little our coping, defensive mechanisms (in regards to repressed, rejected emotions). It saturates our spirits with more primal, chaotic and unclear, confusing energy of our collective and personal shadow self.

This is a process of great illumination of the shadows, a bit like opening an old closet in the basement, holding a fire thrower, and being ready to burn all the nasty load stored here. This event serves us as a bold and loud self-discovery moment, and acts as a portal to the deep and dark side of ourselves. Aries energy gives us bravado, impulse to face the fears, using our emotions as gasoline. Now or never, it is a portal to integration of our most powerful, confident and bold self. Encouraged by Lilith’s presence in Scorpio who deepens this process asking questions about repressed sexual self and deep truths of our core, Neptune traveling the threshold between subconscious and hidden (Pisces 29 degree) and revealed, brand new vision of self (Aries 0 degree). We are given a MASSIVE opportunity to throw away masks, illusions, old skins, shed all those fears and insecurities and show ourselves what we are REALLY made of. Through intense experience that will create a powerful wisdom, that will become a foundation for the next chapter of our life.

Worth mentioning is the rulership over this eclipse. Let’s make it into points, so its more easy to notice connections.

  • Sun, Moon, Mercury Rx and Venus Rx* are in sign of Aries, ruled by Mars.

  • Mars is in Cancer, ruled by the Moon - eclipse is ruling itself, through the Moon.

  • Lilith is in Scorpio, sign partially ruled by Mars - so now also indirectly incorporated into eclipse, by the Moon rulership over Mars.

*Edit: Venus actually re-enters Pisces before eclipse, but stays close to Neptune, intertwining with eclipse energy (especially for Libra placements and 7th housers)

Summing it all up - Mars rules this eclipse and almost all personal energies, but.. He is now the warrior who is serving the Moon. All his battles are for the Moon, and Sun, Moon, Mercury Rx, *Venus Rx are his soldiers. Soon after the eclipse - also Neptune joins his army.

Moon on the other side, plays the main character, encompassing all Earth’s emotional beings with shadows. Lilith is adding her few additional feet of depth to the process (making it more about sexual freedom and freedom of one’s deepest truth, buried in subconscious).

When eclipse rules itself, its power is doubled in unpredictability. When we talk about Moon - emotions, subconscious and shadow self are the main theme. And when we talk about Mars and Aries… We talk about frustration, dissatisfaction, disagreement, conflict.

Understanding our emotions in eclipse

We cannot expect anything else but inner conflict between old self that struggles to go, new self that wants to be born, our internal conflict that makes it hard because despite our  frustration, dissatisfaction, disagreement… For the last time we throw a glance into Libra’s South Node remnants… Being diplomatic, taking space equal to others… There is also the theme of our current South Node in Virgo - necessity and need to let go, release societal pressure, judgement, shame (linking subjects to lunar eclipse in Virgo that is a part of this moon cycle)... And probably all of this is also tainted with sexual frustration, on levels of our mind, body and soul (sexual energy isn’t only about sex after all, but mostly about expression of our passionate creativity, pleasures, satisfaction).

It seems like we want to reach this new vision that Neptune dabbles in right now, teasing us to go after our dreams and realise them, taking action… But various kinds of complex patterns, labyrinths of mind and emotions are holding us back and causing both confusion and spicy emotional turmoils.

Do you want to scream after reading it all? Because this is what Aries does, before it charges forward. It SCREAMS the hell out of world, releasing its creative, boundless sexual energy into matter… Like a battlecry. Worth mentioning is that Aries is the first sign and symbolises… a newborn baby, with its intense, unpredictable but also powerful emotions and boldness to announce its needs. Acting on impulse and responding to world with intensity and without filters of ego (which is directly tied to creation of shadow self).

How to approach this eclipse?

All energies ask us to embody Aries’s spirit, nudging strongly to embody our most authentic self (which is also supported by intensity of Pluto, ruler of Scorpio - so: tied with Lilith - now being in Aquarius, sign of revolution through authenticity and integrity). What should we do, when we are in fact grown ups?

We certainly shouldn’t try to repress these impulses, because they may turn on us and intensify the process, making it go more through shadow paths of Aries (agression, unloading frustration without filter, acting recklessly).

What is recommended is to do shadowork - through action. Boldly reclaim parts of self. With radical self-acceptance. Directing this impulse into self-love. Embracing independence and tossing out victim-mindset. Empowering our self (and our inner child), giving it approval, encouraging creative action, directing this impulse against fear, self-doubt. Embracing insecurities with brave hold of inner warrior, protector, guardian.

Aries is also represented in the archetype of tarot card Emperor - father, who protects, fights for his children and people, pioneers path through darkness with courage, vision. Shares his bravery and ability to take action, in organized and rational ways.

Do not hesitate to embody the Emperor and take action - but be wise, like Emperor, and remember about shadows’ confusion, how fear, shame, guild, doubt made it all so complicated in the past. Address them first, standing bold in your power and then… Follow the vision, taking creative action. Wise note - restrict it to yourself, do not sign up yet for long-term commitments. Give it a week or two, but start changing and pioneering something now. The baby-step, made in typical Aries fashion.

So - what do you TRULY want and what is the step you can take now? Helpful action can be journaling, even if it ends in ripped out of your notebook pages and broken pencil - with such fiery energies? Possible for Aries placements, especially Moon, Mars or Lilith in Aries. But this eclipse presents a powerful opportunity for personal reinvention, so let’s give it a try. Ask yourself:

  • Where in my life do I need a fresh start?

  • What limiting beliefs or fears am I ready to release?

  • How can I embrace my inner warrior and take control of my destiny?

And then -  boldly step into a new version of yourself and trust in the cosmic shifts unfolding.
