Mars in Leo 2025

Time to reclaim the voice of personal power

April 18 – June 17, 2025 (+ peak of opposition to Pluto: April 26, 2025)

In today's entry we will explore influence of Mars in Leo 2025. We will just graze the subject of opposition with Pluto, which is described in the this article. Both contain prognosis for rising signs. Buckle up because this Mars isn't going to walk slowly and carefully, like his past self in recent 4 months.

Context

Mars symbolizes the fire of our initiative, action, the way we approach confrontation, and gives us appetite for life, also sexual drive, motivation, energy.

At the end of last year, Mars entered Leo (in November), awakening within us a fiery force of expression, creativity, and pride. For a moment, we felt the impulse to act — ah the passion, the courage, the heart burning with desire! Energy inspired us to claim our space and express ourselves unapologetically, being proud as we take step into the spotlight. And it burned out as quickly, as we were convinced it's our time to shine.

Mars began his retrograde in the beggining of December, and at the beginning of January, he moved back into Cancer — a sign that is not comfortable for Mars at all.

In Cancer, Mars was defensive, sensitive, burned out by emotional excess. Instead of moving forward — he was retreating from confrontation or was very emotional about it. He protected his feelings with passive-agression, avoided confrontation. In retrograde, he fell back into old defensive patterns. Mood swings appeared, actions filled with fear, avoidance.

As a result — the fire of passion was extinguished by emotional oversensitivity, fears, and doubts triggering survival instincts and defense mechanisms. We locked our initiative inside our own shell.

Mars Re-Enters Leo

On April 18, 2025, Mars re-entered Leo. He will remain here until June 17, 2025.

Hurray! Or nay? The "scary" opposition intensifies this week... Anyways...

We can feel the difference already, despite we are still in the shadow of the retrograde.

Mars returns to the themes from November, but no longer retreats.

The passion that ignites is already firmly rooted after the retrograde in Cancer (Cancer = roots, ancestors, and their legacy). The strength that emerges is more mature, stable, and conscious.

Mars in Leo is fiery, proud, creative – he acts from the heart and wants to be seen, appreciated, applauded in the right way.  He demands attention for his actions, has a strong ego, and promotes pride in oneself as the central point of our actions. His goal is to show what is most beautiful in us — not to show off, but to manifest what is true

Mars in Leo does not apologize for the space he occupies — and encourages us to do the same.

During this transit, we receive an impulse to act with vigor and conviction, to let the heart take over the space and occupy the main place on the stage. Mars encourages us to show the world what we are most proud of, through action. This is also a time of greater courage to say “I” — not out of selfishness, but from a sense of wholeness.

It is worth noting how well Mars in Leo resonates with the current Aries energies: Mercury, Neptune, Venus returning here after her retrograde, and Saturn, who at the end of May will already begin a new cycle through the zodiac, entering Aries.

This is a shared narrative: a new cycle for our ego, action, and relationships, which begins from within – from foundations that have been thoroughly rebuilt by previous transits. Fire is omnipresent, the cosmos is giving us plenty of strength, energy to step into new roles, new stages of life. Finishing and closing the past is still a strong theme (a lot of Pisces energy), but we are also doing this with passion now, sometimes even with aggression flowing from frustration (because how much more of this past???) :)

Fire, fire and MORE FIRE! We like fire, until we don't...

(Priestess is subtly hinting entry about Great Cross forming on the sky this weekend ^^)

Mars in Leo – prognosis for Ascendants

Ascendant in Leo – Mars in the 1st house:

Mars transits your 1st house, strongly activating themes of your presence in the world, your appearance, adding his Martian flames to your aura. He gives you strength, initiative, magnetism, courage to step in and take up space, without apologizing for who you are. You may feel the need for bold changes in appearance, style, the rhythm of your body’s movement – the kind of changes you previously lacked the impulse, energy, or courage to make. You may have more energy to act, to initiate, to fight to be noticed, appreciated.

Mars calls you to show yourself in full light – without modesty, but also without artificiality – choose what has long resonated with your heart, with truth. Working with the body (gym, dance, consciously directing sexual energy) may now be a path to greater personal power and can raise your energy to such a level that your influence on others increases. Your presence is saturated with sex appeal, fierceness, and power.

Ascendant in Cancer – Mars in the 2nd house:

Mars activates your sense of self-worth, self-esteem, and resources. This is a time when your desires demand manifestation in the material world. It’s not just about money, but about a sense of deserving. A strong belief may come to the surface that you deserve more, better - especially when it comes to posessions and security, stability. You want to reach for what completes your current sense of worth, using the impulse of courage and charisma given to you by Mars.

During this time, you may feel a strong need for financial independence, but the question may also arise: Do I act from a sense of value, or am I trying to prove something to the world?

Mars gives you energy to earn, to fight for the improvement of your financial condition, to acquire material goods, to build a structure that will hold more value, but also to confront the areas where there was previously fear of lack or dependence on others.

Ascendant in Gemini – Mars in the 3rd house:

Mars sets your words, voice, communication, and local network of contacts on fire. He fills your mind with a need for action, activity, passion for communicating, speaking, seeking spaces that receive you well, and he highlights those parts of your mind that fill you with pride in yourself. Analyzing and gathering data turns into action. You may feel a surge of energy and motivation that pushes you to speak, write, record, teach, share your knowledge. Your words now have more power – they can inspire or hurt, highlight someone's best qualities or deepen complexes. Your words are fire, passion, power. You may feel the temptation to engage in confrontation just because you feel it and want to make use of it. Any use.

Mars will test whether you are speaking because you have something to say – or just to be heard. Choose communication that has a purpose. Speak from the heart, but direct it with the mind.

Ascendant in Taurus – Mars in the 4th house:

Your inner home, the space of comfort and emotions, catches fire. A lot of energy and motivation appears to act within your own, safe inner space. There may arise a need to rebuild family relationships, to turn energy inward, or even a literal renovation. Mars gives you the strength to rebuild your comfort zone according to your heart and truth, so that it becomes a temple for your life passion and a place where this passion revives and takes shape in waves of creativity.

Mars can also awaken emotions that have been suppressed until now – anger at parents, frustration related to childhood, fear of being "too much" in your own home. What you want to build now must have emotional foundations, not just structure. You have the chance to transform your roots so they are not a cage, but a comfortable support, a space where passion, heart, and creativity are cultivated through action, with courage and without retreating :)

Ascendant in Aries – Mars in the 5th house:

Mars in Leo, in the natural fire of passion of the fifth house, is a time of absolute creativity, fun, and expression from the heart. You may feel a surge of energy, motivation, and passion for creating, romance, flirting, artistic expression. This transit resembles a wave of childlike vigor, full of imagination and creativity. What might stand in your way is the desire to hide behind a mask, to avoid childlike energy due to shame. But this transit gives you a lot of creativity and pleasure in action, activating reserves of enthusiasm and optimism.

This is a great moment for everything that combines creativity, passion, brings you joy, and allows your inner child to come alive. Whether it’s a creative project, a performance, artistic self-expression. If you have children – the energy also flows there: protection, inspiration, action from love – and well-spent, active vacation time.

Ascendant in Pisces – Mars in the 6th house:

Mars directs your attention to daily life – to action, health, daily ritual, repetition, work, and service to others. You may feel an inner compulsion to "get yourself together": diet, movement, consistency. Also to take care of health matters, work, daily life, which you have been procrastinating on until now. Mars gives you not only a green light, but also desire, motivation, and a dose of aggressiveness, which is necessary to remodel some routine actions, maybe set boundaries with others. It’s important not to do this out of hatred for yourself or others, but from a need of the heart, to cultivate your passion, space, and energy.

Mars here wants your daily life to become a field for drawing strength, not exploitation of it. Frustration at work may take the scene, especially if you feel unappreciated – Mars says: act, but don’t allow yourself to get stuck in the role of victim, choose places where you are appreciated and seen for who you truly are, and what talents you truly have.

Ascendant in Aquarius – Mars in the 7th house:

The fire of Mars appears in relationships bringing in passion and desire, but also confrontations and the need to clearly set boundaries. Mars in the 7th house activates partnerships – romantic, professional, and spiritual. These areas are energized, there is courage and heart to act, to show previously hidden parts of yourself. The only question is whether this means fighting with the other person, or fighting side by side?

You have the right to take space in a relationship, and now you also have the impulse, courage, and passion of your heart to change something, adjust, fight for yourself… but you also have the responsibility not to do this from the level of ego – its aggression, fears, and insecurity.

This time may bring cleansing through action, confrontations – if you are ready to speak honestly about your needs and listen to others’, not just insist on your way or approach conversation with frustration, aggression, and looking for the problem in the other person. The energy of Mars adds courage, boldness, and strengthens the ego – which is both a gift and a responsibility :)

Ascendant in Capricorn – Mars in the 8th house:

Mars in the 8th house enters into exceptional intensity, fueling desires that are “forbidden.” It may bring restlessness, pulling to the surface old frustrations, aggression, a desire for domination and control coming from the helplessness hidden in the shadows. Taboos come out of hiding, ready to follow the impulse, motivated and full of vigor, proud and seeking their space. This is a time of confrontation with the shadow: jealousy, fear of control, the need to merge with someone or something. The past may resurface – sexual, emotional, traumatic.

But the most important thing is that Mars also gives strength to integrate it – it gives a kick in your ass, to face this shadow and take the bull by the horns. To walk through the corners of your psyche and divide what you find there into useless things inherited from others… and pearls of inner alchemy, true gifts from the private basement of unwanted things :)

This is a good time for psychotherapy, work with sexual energy, transformation rituals, cleansing karmic bonds – cutting energetic links and closing access for energy vampires and exploiters.

Ascendant in Sagittarius – Mars in the 9th house:

This is a house that strongly resonates with your Ascendant. Mars transits your 9th house and invites you to go beyond previous boundaries – physically, intellectually, spiritually. A passionate hunger may arise: for knowledge, vision, space. Mars wants his action to have deep meaning and for the whole meaning of everything that until now has been vision, knowledge, mental journeys beyond limits… to turn into action, steps forward, embarking on that journey. Not thinking of it, learning around it, and exploring dimensions… So give outlet to passion and fulfill the desire to experience meaning in practice, action, movement.

This is a time to act according to the philosophy you believe in. Publish, travel, inspire. If what you believe in doesn’t work – Mars will show you through a crisis, burning away false beliefs and views projected from shadows, from the desire to escape from shame. Dogmas will burn, and the truth will be discovered through confrontation, so you could actually take actions aligned with the heart and the passion that burns within you. And that will be a step toward living what you believe in, not just babysitting that belief system of yours :)

Ascendant in Scorpio – Mars in the 10th house:

Your ambition returns in full force, because Mars in this house gives you a hunger for visibility, success, action, inexhaustible energy to push your career forward, to fight for your image, recognition, and reputation. You finally have the courage of your heart and the energy to fight for the realization of your ambitions. Unless you are afraid of your own light. If that's the issue for you - Mars will confront you, ask: Where does that shame come from? Will you sit in the corner and watch others win, stand in the light, and have the courage to roar from the pedestal about their strengths? And maybe you’ll even feel jealous and curse how unfair the world is?

You now have the strength, even a kick in the butt to do it. Internally you are pushed forward, either by motivation or frustration, Mars blows wind into your sails without asking for permission :)

This is a time to act strategically, but with passion. There may be conflict with authorities – not out of rebellion, but because you are becoming an authority for yourself. And arguing with frustration and anger may end in quarrels with superiors. Do it wisely, direct Mars’ energy with strategy and understanding of the situation. Develop your leadership abilities in action, with thought on how this powerful impulse can serve you and others at the same time.

Ascendant in Libra – Mars in the 11th house:

Mars directs attention to your social relationships, dreams, and group missions. This is a time for activity among people, but not from the need to be liked. Rather taking vision that ignites your thoughts into the group you feel inspired by. You have it, you have an idea for the whole group – for a project, action, for something that you know others also want to become reality. There is a demand for it, and there’s also an idea for changing the world – Mars says: start acting! And he ignites your visions of the future, giving you the impulse to present them to the world, to find a group that thinks in the same way and wants to devote itself to this vision, for all of us. Or maybe impulse leads you to create a group and lead it with your vision?

But there will also be a test: are you doing it from a need for recognition, or from authentic passion? What ignites you more – the vision of being someone special, or the vision of fulfilling a dream, a mission, filling a social gap?

Ascendant in Virgo – Mars in the 12th house:

Mars in this house works from behind the veil. You may feel unrest, underlying tension, dreams may be full of anger or struggle, impulses that seek a way from the subconscious into reality. Thoughts come dressed in passion, flames, instincts lead towards your magic, spirituality, into the realm of mysticism. And Mars will give you the courage to confront them – with what has so far remained hidden, invisible, asleep in your unconscious mind. At first it may seem like something negative… But approach it with courage, not easily deceived by that unsettling first impression. You may discover treasures of a spiritual nature and find the courage to integrate them.

Cleansing rituals, energy work, spiritual healing – this is your field of action, this is what you receive the impulse for. Mars may also reveal repressed anger or fear of your own strength – but only so that you can integrate it. External action can only begin when you understand that the battle is first fought within and, when surrendered… it transforms into creativity.

Honourable mention: Mars Opposition to Pluto

The most intense moment of this transit occurs on April 26, when Mars will oppose Pluto in Aquarius. It’s the meeting of the fiery, proud, and powerful individual with an impersonal system.

Mars says: “I want to act, I want to show my strength, I want to be myself.”

Pluto asks: “But is what you’re showing true?”

Opposition is not a fight, but a tension between two poles that must be integrated.

And we will have two squares: Lilith in Scorpio forms very strong conflict with Mars-Pluto, Sun in Taurus adds light tension too. We officially have a loose Grand Cross on April 26, this weekend. But about that... In my next entry.
